IMA Research: Value to the Member and to the Profession
    Entry:

    Hello All,

One of the strategic topics at the IMA global board meeting this Saturday (February 13) is the value of IMA research to the member and to the profession.  By the way, IMA's global board conducts 3 in-person meetings per year with several webex sessions in between.

Under the leadership of Dr. Raef Lawson, I truly believe that we have one of the best research programs in the accounting profession.  FAR, IMA's Foundation for Applied Research (501c3 nonprofit), is an esteemed committee of volunteer practitioners and academics that has served our profession admirably.  The current FAR Chair is Dr. Paul Juras from Wake Forest University.  FAR research is practical, relevant and timely.

    More:

FAR supports an academic grant program and a doctoral student grant program.  In addition to practical articles that appear frequently in Strategic Finance magazine based on FAR research, FAR has also funded two major projects (PDFs available free to members) on corporate sustainability reporting and customer life-time value.

Are you familiar with our SMAs (Statements on Management Accounting)?  SMAs are free resource guides on topics that include risk management, supply chain, fair value, lean accounting, sustainability, ethics and more.

Are you familiar with IECJ (IMA Educational Case Journal)?  This publication is now in its third year with practical cases and teaching notes published on-line on a quarterly basis.

IMA Research.  Engaging and connecting academia and practitioners in business.  Helping to advance the global profession.  And, helping you to unleash the VALUE OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP!  A special shout-out to Tara Barker, IMA Research Manager, for all she has done to make this happen.

    Thanks,

      Jeff
